چکیده

Background Nephrotoxicity is a dose limiting side effect of Tenofovir (TDF), a commonly used anti-HIV drug. About 37-45% of patients on anti-HIV drugs suffer from renal damage. As the mechanism of pathogenesis of TDF induced renal damage is not clear, it is necessary to elucidate the mechanism in order to prevent the renal damage. This study investigates the roles of nitroso-oxidative stress and NFkB activation in TDF induced renal damage.

Vitamin D Deficiency Aggravates Nephrotoxicity, Hypertension and Dyslipidemia Caused by Tenofovir: Role of Oxidative Stress and Renin-Angiotensin System

Vitamin D deficiency (VDD) is prevalent among HIV-infected individuals. Vitamin D has been associated with renal and cardiovascular diseases because of its effects on oxidative stress, lipid metabolism and renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS). Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF), a widely used component of antiretroviral regimens for HIV treatment, can induce renal injury. The aim of thi...

Development of AgNPs-tragacanth Conjugated Gel as a Novel Green Membrane in Electro-membrane Extraction: Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate Assay in Human Plasma Samples

AgNPs-Tragacanth conjugate gel as an eco friendly and low cost membrane was applied for the effective electromembrane extraction (EME) of Tenofovir disproxil fumarate, an important acidic and high polar (log p=1.25) antiviral drug, followed by HPLC-UV determination. The effect of various parameters on the extraction efficiency including the presence of AgNPs, tragacanth gum concentration, gel t...

P-65: Nitrosative Stress, Lipid and Carbonyl Groups Peroxidations in Long Time-Induced Varicocele; Association with Sperms DNA Damage in Rats

Background: The pathophysiology of the varicocele has received considerable study, both in humans and in animal models. The sperm DNA damage and related oxidative stress have been identified as significant cause of male infertility. Present study was designed to evaluate the testicular nitric oxide (NO) generation, lipid and carbonyl groups (CGs) peroxidation and to analyze related sperm DNA da...

Establishment of HK-2 Cells as a Relevant Model to Study Tenofovir-Induced Cytotoxicity

Tenofovir (TFV) is an antiviral drug approved for treating Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Hepatitis B. TFV is administered orally as the prodrug tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) which then is deesterified to the active drug TFV. TFV induces nephrotoxicity characterized by renal failure and Fanconi Syndrome. The mechanism of this toxicity remains unknown due to limited experimental mo...

Tenofovir-associated nephrotoxicity in patients with chronic hepatitis B: two cases

Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) is effective against chronic hepatitis B (CHB) infection and its use is increasing rapidly worldwide. However, it has been established that TDF is associated with renal toxicity in human immunodeficiency virus-infected patients, while severe or symptomatic TDF-associated nephrotoxicity has rarely been reported in patients with CHB. Here we present two patient...
